Every Tuesday is a dangerous day for my wallet, but August 4, 2026 might be one of the most expensive release days of the year. Brandon is going to be sad.

This week has everything I love; gorgeous deluxe editions with sprayed edges, gothic fantasy, thrillers, horror, cozy autumn romance, literary fiction, and even a novel centered around art. While there’s no way I need all of these books (my TBR cart would disagree), these are the releases currently tempting me.

Born in Fire

K.F. Breene (Deluxe Edition with Sprayed Edges)

I’m always a sucker for a beautiful collector’s edition, and this deluxe release immediately grabbed my attention. Between the sprayed edges and the promise of magic, action, and humor, this feels like one of those books that’s just as pretty on the shelf as it is fun to read.

Vampires.

Honestly, that’s enough to get my attention.

Throw in gothic romance, dark magic, curses, and a haunting atmosphere, and this sounds like the perfect transition into spooky season.

Tiffany D. Jackson

Tiffany D. Jackson has become one of those authors I always pay attention to. This spooky mystery set in Savannah sounds like an excellent blend of mystery and supernatural suspense. It also feels like a perfect Summerween read before diving into full-on Halloween season.

My Most Anticipated Release!!!

Riley Sager

If I could only buy one book this week, this would be it.

Riley Sager has become one of my favorite thriller authors, and every new release immediately jumps to the top of my wish list. I purposely avoid reading too much about his books before going in because I love experiencing every twist completely blind.

This is without question my most anticipated release of August 4, and I cannot wait to dive in.

It’s Riley Sager.
That’s honestly enough.

The Woman in White

Sarah Pekkanen

Sarah Pekkanen writes some wonderfully addictive suspense novels, and this one sounds like another psychological thriller that’s going to keep readers guessing. She has a knack for creating characters whose secrets slowly unravel until everything changes.

Why I’m interested:

Psychological suspense
Strong female characters
Twisty storytelling

Eyes of Kings

Chloe Gong

Chloe Gong has become one of fantasy’s biggest rising stars, and every release feels like an event. Her blend of political intrigue, fantasy, and memorable characters always catches my attention.

This one is definitely staying on my radar and I will add it to my August TBR!

Taylor J. LaRue

This was my Allurial Book Box selection this month.

One of my favorite things about Allurial is discovering books I might never have picked up on my own, especially beautiful fantasy editions with all the special touches collectors love.

This one immediately stood out because it centers around art.

If you’ve followed Northern Gypsy Living for any length of time, you know that art history is one of my greatest passions. Any novel that incorporates artists, museums, creativity, or artwork instantly moves up my TBR.

I’m incredibly curious to see how art influences the story.

Time Travel for Beginners

Time travel stories are either absolutely brilliant or complete chaos—and honestly, that’s part of the fun.

The premise sounds imaginative, whimsical, and different from anything else releasing this week.

Meat Bees

Dane Erbach

Just look at that title.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect, which somehow makes me want to read it even more. Horror with an unforgettable title immediately earns bonus points.

The Wild Beneath

Kelly Anderson

Atmospheric, mysterious, and filled with nature? Yes, please.

Books with wilderness settings always pull me in, especially when there’s an element of suspense or folklore involved.

The Residency

C.D. Major

Political thrillers aren’t something I read every week, but when they’re done well, they’re impossible to put down.

This premise sounds tense, fast-paced, and full of secrets.

Final Thoughts

Looking over this list, it’s obvious August 4 is stacked with incredible releases. Between deluxe collector’s editions, gothic fantasy, horror, thrillers, literary fiction, and cozy romance, there truly is something for every reader.

The hardest part now is deciding how much damage I’m willing to do to my book budget this week.
